Singing Workshop: 1pm - 4pm
Step back in time and experience medieval plainsong within St Brides, Hyndland.
Cappella Nova Outreach at St. Brides, are gathering a community choir to work on the medieval chant for St Brigit. If you love singing this is the opportunity to learn to sing in medieval plainsong.
In addition anyone who enjoys this workshop will also have the opportunity to participate in the Performance at 4.30pm.
Performance - Holy Star of Ireland: 4.30pm - 6pm
Mediaeval Irish music and poetry in honour of St Brigit of Kildare performed by the professional singers of CANTY with Bill Taylor (medieval clarsach); Gillean McDougall (narrator); (Schola Cantorum) St Brides choir along with singers from the local community.
Rebecca Tavener will introduce the performance with a brief talk about the music and the saint.
Followed by a reception and a glass of wine.
Transport: Buses M4 and 15 go along Hyndland Road. the 2,4,4A pass near Hyndland Road. The nearest train station is Hyndland. Parking charges apply on a Saturday.
Accessibility: Access to the main church is via the side porch. A portable ramp is available followed by a stair lift. An audio loop is available
There is one toilet on the same level as the church. This is for all to use.
