Between the two groups, we have accrued 122 years of singing to a range of audiences around the world and combined this with fund raising for a wide range of charities.
Conductor of the Glasgow Phoenix Choir is Cameron Murdoch a widely experienced musician and teacher. In addition, Cameron regularly plays harpsichord and piano with various musical ensembles, including the excellent Glasgow CREATE Choirs, and performs throughout the British Isles. Cameron is also Organist and Choir Master of St. John’s Renfield Church in Glasgow’s West End. Many of the pieces in the current Phoenix repertoire were arranged by Cameron. Our regular accompanist is Matthew McIlree an Honours Graduate from the University of St. Andrews, where he completed both piano and organ scholarships alongside a degree in mathematics and computer science. Matthew currently combines pursuing his academic career alongside working freelance as a wedding musician and accompanist. Matthew can also be heard playing the organ as part of the daily recital programme at Kelvingrove Art Gallery.
In 2022, The Bangor Ladies Choir were honoured as First Ambassadors of the City of Bangor by Ards and North Down Borough Council. In this role the Choir promotes the City of Bangor wherever it travels as well as raising tens of thousands of pounds for worthwhile charities. The choir’s Musical Director is Christine Crutchley who expertly guides the Choir to new levels resulting in a high standard of performances.
