The workshop, led by artist Healy Arts (https://www.healyarts.com/), focuses on playful ways of designing wings for imagined ‘Space Bugs’ inspired by solar sails and wings. Healy Arts will provide small handmade glass ‘bug' bodies, some made in Murano, Venice, and at Glasgow Sculpture Studios as a starting point for micro sculptures. Participants will be able to design and make the wings from ‘space foil’, silver cardboard and aluminium foil and there will be circuit boards, wire and a few other recycled and scrap materials to see how people approach this creative project.
This project is inspired by the ‘wings’ which will be deployed on the CubeSat when it has reached its end of use. The CubeSat has been designed to propel itself back into the Earth's atmosphere and combust, to avoid becoming space debris.
This event is for children 10+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is free, but ticketed.
Please enter the ARC via the main entrance.
Additional Dates: 14 April 2025
