Glasgow Life online content still in demand
Glasgow's love for culture, sport and learning is leading to a surge in take up of Glasgow Life’s online services during lockdown.

Glasgow Life delivers pioneering programmes to benefit the lives of the people of Glasgow. It has seen a surge in demand for its digital offering during lockdown.
Councillor David McDonald, Chair of Glasgow Life and Depute Leader of Glasgow City Council said: “These have been a difficult few months. The teams at Glasgow Life have worked tirelessly to enable people to be able to access online versions of the wonderful services the city is normally able to enjoy.”
The free Glasgow Club app has been a huge success. It has been downloaded over 4,500 times by citizens in their own homes. They have been able to join over 120 virtual live classes delivered by Glasgow Club instructors, with people clocking up an impressive 200,000 home workouts since lockdown started.
Over 3500 new members have registered with Glasgow Libraries with nearly 20,000 library ebook issues in the past two months, over 50% ahead of usual.
Audiobook use continues to be strong with almost 5,000 being accessed in the past month and over 20,000 emagazines have been downloaded since lockdown began.
Glasgow Museums also has 1.6 million objects in the collection they are sharing online. They have recently launched ‘Ask the Archivist’ via Facebook, which is proving extremely popular alongside a regular ‘Ask the Archivist’ column in the Glasgow Times.
We have all been missing being able to appreciate art, music and museums, being able to easily access learning and take part in sport. While we wait to be able to enjoy these shared experiences once again, #glasgowlifegoeson is the next best thing.
As well as 24 hour-a-day access to services online, there is curated content on Glasgow Life social media channels which can be found by searching for the #glasgowlifegoeson hashtag.
