Buchanan Galleries blossoms with notes for hospital patients

Hundreds of guests attended an event at Buchanan Galleries to create inspirational notes for patients, carers and nurses at Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Buchanan Galleries is hosting a series craft workshops in May, encouraging visitors to add their own personalised flower to the trees and donate a kind word to help create smiles for patients, carers, and staff at the hospital.

Following the first event, over 100 paper flowers were created and decorated by visitors to the centre and hung on blossom trees situated within the mall. The flowers were then carefully sent to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and shared amongst patients at the hospital who are undergoing life-changing treatments.

William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Events at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We’re so thankful to visitors at Buchanan Galleries who took some time out of their shopping to donate a kind word to help create smiles for patients, their families and the NHS staff caring for them. The personalised messages have been so heart-warming, and it’s been such a delight to see patients bloom with joy whilst reading them.

“We look forward to hosting our next In Full Boom flower craft workshop this weekend and hope shoppers continue to support for our hospital community.”

The next workshop will be taking place from 9am – 6pm on Saturday 28th May, and 10am – 6pm on Sunday 29th May. A charity donation of £2 per flower is suggested, with all proceeds going to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager at Buchanan Galleries said: “It’s been wonderful to see so many visitors of all ages adding a blossoming touch to the centre and sharing a kind word and well-wishes for patients at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

“We wanted to create a series of floral experiences for our visitors, and we can’t wait to see our guests capturing positive, memorable moments at the centre this spring.”

As part of the centre’s floral-themed activity, guests are also invited to take part in Buchanan Galleries’ In Full Bloom competition to win £50 beauty vouchers, courtesy of Boots.
