Clayton Hotel Glasgow City, which is located on Clyde Street in the vibrant riverside area, has breathed new life into the historic sandstone Custom House building with stylish interiors and a celebration of period architecture.
The refurbished listed building serves as the entrance to the hotel with the reception, public area, ballroom and event spaces all located here. Adjacent to the historic building and connected, in part, by a glazed ceiling, the ultra-modern hotel also houses the Custom House Bar & Restaurant. Climbing to 16 storeys high, the hotel provides a striking juxtaposition of old and new architecture.
Perfect for a city break, the luxurious new hotel is just a short stroll from Glasgow’s famed Buchanan Street with easy access to the rest of the city’s Style Mile areas as well as the world renowned Ovo Hydro arena and Scottish Event Campus. Additionally, its high-spec meeting and events facilities ensure the hotel is also an attractive option for business guests.
The hotel’s 303 spacious bedrooms offer stunning cityscape or river views, while the terrace on the seventh floor provides a stand-out entertaining space and beautiful panoramas across the city.
Located in a Conservation Area, this building has been a focal point for hundreds of years for people moving between the quayside and the city centre.
With an enticing menu celebrating local produce and a sophisticated extensive drinks list on offer, the Custom House Bar & Restaurant will serve as an excellent option for pre-dinner drinks, a night out with friends, a group celebration or indeed a corporate gathering.
Clayton Hotel Glasgow City General Manager, Hazel Galloway said the new hotel provides a warm Scottish welcome along with the superior service and excellent levels of comfort that Clayton Hotels are known for.
She said: “We are so thrilled to bring the first Clayton Hotel to Scotland and we are looking forward to adding to Glasgow’s world-class hospitality offering as we prepare to welcome guests from around the globe.
“On arrival, guests will be struck by the grandeur of the building with its historic architecture and striking interiors before moving through to the contemporary heart of the hotel. This is a building which seamlessly combines classic design with modern luxuries.
“We are very lucky to have Glasgow’s main shopping area close by, while we are just a short stroll from Glasgow Central Station, the OVO Hydro arena and the Science Centre. We truly are in a prime location for our leisure guests and business travellers.”
Writing a new chapter in the hospitality offering of Scotland’s second city, the hotel provides a unique setting for a charming city wedding, hosting up to 160 guests indoors or up to 50 guests outdoors on the beautiful seventh floor terrace.
Operated by Dalata Hotel Group Plc, this is the first Clayton Hotel to open in Scotland as Ireland’s largest hotel group continues to expand its presence throughout the UK and Ireland.
