Calling all ladies who lunch! It’s time to dig out your glad rags and handbags for an afternoon of fun, fizz and fine dining because the annual ‘Fizz and Fabulous Ladies Lunch’ is back after three years and promises to be the biggest and best event so far.
The lunch has been organised to raise money for children’s charity NSPCC Scotland to help keep children safe from abuse and neglect and is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday, November 19.
The NSPCC Ladies’ Lunch Committee has set a target of selling 400 tickets this year, its fifth event, and hopes to raise £40k, which would fund the running of Childline in Scotland for a week, 24 hours a day for 7 days.
Janette McAllister, Chair of the Committee, said: “After attending the Ladies Lunch five years ago, I knew I wanted to get involved and have been on the committee ever since. It’s always a great day and has grown over the years, so much so that we had to get a bigger venue!
“We’ve really missed it and we’re thrilled to be back with what promises to be our biggest and best event yet!
“Our special Christmas market, where you can treat yourself to some luxurious goodies or maybe get some lovely gifts for your friends and family, will be open right through the event. We’ll also have a tombola and a posh bottle tombola for you to try your luck too.
“Everyone should want to make sure that children are kept safe from abuse and neglect, that’s why we raise the funds each year for NSPCC Scotland – to give children a better future.”
Arrival time is 11.30am for a glass of fizz. The afternoon will be hosted by Britain’s Got Talent contestant Edward Reid and kicks off with some fabulous entertainment from the amazing Rock Choir, followed by a sumptuous three-course lunch, coffee and tablet.
There will be fun games and a raffle during the afternoon, a Live Auction and Silent Auction with amazing prizes to be won. Guests will also hear about NSPCC Scotland’s work to help prevent child abuse and neglect and support children and young people.
The afternoon will conclude with “a bit of a boogie” with guests getting to strut their stuff to dancefloor hits from across the decades from Radio Clyde’s Ali Wright.
Caroline Renton, supporter fundraising manager for NSPCC Scotland, said: “It’s wonderful to see the return of the Ladies Lunch event as it’s been a firm fixture in people’s calendars each year and we’ve all missed it.
“We’d like to thank the wonderful Ladies Lunch Committee members who generously give up their time to organise this event each year and everyone who attends and donates so generously on the day. Their support means we can be there to help and support many more children who need us.”
The NSPCC works in schools and communities across the country to protect children today and prevent abuse tomorrow, aiming to transform society for every childhood.
Childline held over 200,000 Childline counselling sessions with children and young people last year (2020/21).
