Princes Square’s giant 42ft Christmas tree was lit up by Santa. The iconic Christmas tree is back with a brand-new scheme in rich reds, burgundy and gold, topped with the statement peacock. The pillars around the centre will be decorated in twinkling lights, adding a touch of festive sparkle.
Princes Square’s Christmas music programme this year includes: Festival of Choirs - organised in partnership with Quarriers – one of Scotland’s leading social care charities – and Princes Square will host performances daily from 9th December between 1-2pm in support of the charity.
Shine Theatre returned to the Square to perform at the light switch-on and will be back on 17th December for their own festive concert. Strings in the Square will run 2-4pm weekly on Wednesdays with a solo violinist in the courtyard until 21st December. No booking is required for these events and they are all free to attend.
Big Feed Kitchen will be taking over the Christmas Courtyard Bar this year in conjunction with Disaronno. Situated under the giant tree, the bar will be open from 20th November and will be serving Christmas-themed cocktails; wines; beers, spirits and the latest menu featuring Big Feed favourites Baked and Rafa’s Diner.
Princes Square’s bars and restaurants Barca; Big Feed Kitchen; Cranachan; Il Pavone; NY Grill; October and Zizzi’s have created delicious festive menus and Christmas cocktails to toast the season. If you’re short on time, you can enjoy a coffee and a mince pie in Café Bombon or Tinderbox.
Everyman Cinema will be showing a whole host of Christmas family favourites – check out princessquare.co.uk for the latest announcements.
The Glasgow Distillery - one of Princes Square’s newest retailers – offers shoppers the chance to visit the retail space which will host favourites from the distillery’s portfolio, including: Makar Gin, Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Whisky, Banditti Club Rum, G52 Botanical Vodka and Malt Riot Blended Malt - as well as limited bottlings from its new Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series and its popular Glasgow 1770 Christmas crackers – perfect for stocking fillers. For those looking to add a personal touch to their gifts, a personalised label service will also be available for Glasgow 1770 Single Malt’s Original and Peated core range.
Katie Moody, Centre Director, Princes Square, commented: “We're thrilled to be able to welcome guests to our switch-on event, after a two-year absence. We had Santa here today to welcome everyone and do the official switch on. Elf School is back by popular demand, after it sold out last year and so is our Christmas bar. We've created a full Christmas music programme to ensure our guests are entertained while they shop. Princes Square is a unique place to be, especially over the festive season.”
With over 25 retailers and 12 eateries, Princes Square is Glasgow’s premier retail and leisure destination. Located in the heart of the city’s bustling Buchanan Street, the mall provides a shopping haven to lovers of high street and designer fashion, beauty, jewellery, homewares, and lifestyle brands while its wide range of bars, restaurants and cafes offers something for every palate.
