The money raised at this annual festive and fun event is vital and will go towards supporting the more than 100 health and social care services that Quarriers operates.
Quarriers is a unique social care charity which aims to transform the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people across Scotland by challenging the inequality they face and supporting their physical, mental and social wellbeing.
This year around 350 guests joined in the fun with Des Clarke entertaining everyone. In addition, Des McKeown was host and auctioneer, and the silent auction, which was packed with exciting gift ideas, was once again an exceptional success, with prizes ranging from golf opportunities, artworks, luxurious overnight stays and tours of both of Glasgow’s biggest football clubs. The Live Auction featured exceptional concert tickets with dinner, a cinema hire event at Cameron House Hotel, golf at Gleneagles and tickets to the Women’s British Open amongst others. Sponsors included Martin Plant Hire, Tunnocks, Loch Lomond Group and Arnold Clark.
During the lunch, guests heard a moving account of how the Quarriers Maternal Wellbeing Service supported a young mum with late diagnosis post-natal depression regain her confidence through a journey of recovery at a very difficult time of her life. Through this support her personal growth and confidence increased so much so that when she saw a course in Therapeutic Photography she applied and was successful. She is now using that experience volunteering and delivering courses to other mums at the Quarriers Ruchazie Family Resource Centre.
