Over the past 12 months, Buchanan Galleries has hosted a series of fundraising events, workshops and promotional weekends, such as the Summer Mini Fete, a flower craft workshop and a pop-up shop within the centre.
The shopping centre’s Christmas fundraising activity this winter was the most successful to date and raised a whopping £46,266 for the charity. Activities included musical performances within the centre, a gift-wrapping service, plus a raffle draw for shoppers to win a holiday to Florida.
2022 also saw Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity launch its first brick-and-mortar store within Buchanan Galleries, which has so far raised tens of thousands of pounds from sales of preloved baby and toddler items and clothing, along with second-hand cots and bouncers.
All the donations made by shoppers and staff at the centre helps fund life-changing projects and services at Scotland’s busiest children’s hospital.
For 20 years, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has tirelessly supported young patients, their families and the NHS heroes who care for them with donations from the public. Buchanan Galleries has confirmed it is extending its fundraising partnership with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for 2023 – having raised more than £300,000 for the charity since 2015.
Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager at Buchanan Galleries said: “We’re proud to be able to continue to support such a worthy cause, whose hard work has helped thousands of children in Glasgow and beyond.
“Our staff have really thrown themselves into hosting some fantastic fundraising events for the charity and we couldn’t have raised as much as we have without the generous donations made by our shoppers. Their efforts have ensured more children facing difficult hospital journeys can get access to the support and charity-funded services they need, to make their hospital stays that little bit easier.
“We’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to the past fundraising events here at Buchanan Galleries. We look forward to hosting more charity events in 2023 and hope our visitors continue to join us in supporting this marvellous charity.”
William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Business Development at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We’d like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to Buchanan Galleries for their continuous support and generous donations that help fund projects and services that help children and families during their most difficult days. These include our Family Support & Information Service, our play and events programme and state of the art medical equipment.
“We’re looking forward to seeing what Buchanan Galleries has in store this year, and we hope the Glasgow community continue to support them in their fundraising efforts.”
This year, Buchanan Galleries is planning to host further fundraising events within the centre during 2023. Shoppers can also support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity all year round by visiting their store situated on the first floor at Buchanan Galleries. Families will be able to purchase high-quality, pre-loved baby and toddler clothing including hand-knitted items, along with an array of larger products including nursery furniture and cot frames, all at affordable prices.
