Antonio says: “we’re just weeks away now and we simply can’t wait. The décor is more than we could have ever imagined, a wow moment when you walk through the door. We’ve worked hard on creating a menu that delivers on a real Italian dining experience and we’re excited for everyone to try it.”
It’s the striking details throughout the immense open plan, two-storey listed building that has a 180-cover restaurant including two private dining rooms, as well as two bars for a further 100 guests and a DJ booth, that make this space truly special. The stunning restaurant features black and white marble flooring, bold royal blue and crisp white half-moon decorative cornicing that punctuates the floor-to-ceiling panelling and pillars, large skylights, and a winding staircase. The first-floor wraparound glass balcony overlooks the ground level with statement round tables, soft furnished banquette seating and plush chairs perfect for convivial dining.
Antonio, Pasquale, and Simone will bring to Glasgow the traditions and flavours from their three-generation Vesuvian tomato family farm in the Campania region of Italy together with the authenticity of Italian dishes and innovative flair.
From La Nostra Focaccia Ripena, baked focaccia stuffed with gorgonzola cheese and nduja sausage to La Regina, Vesuvian tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella and basil, an array of Italian homemade breads get their own section on the menu. Pasta dishes range from the fresh flavours of an Il Classico Spaghetto a Pomodoro, Vesuvian tomato and basil with fresh homemade spaghetti to a showstopping Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe Con Tartufo served at the table in a pecorino wheel.
A Lo Sgombro, mackerel with fennel salad and yoghurt, Crocchetta di Cavolfiore, cauliflower croquettes and chilli jam and Il Tonno Piccante, a spicy tuna tartare with avocado cream add delicious options to starters. A selection of quality meats, fish and seafood cooked over fire for flavour and classics such as a Parmigiana and Pollo Porchettato are bound to be instant hits.
Desserts are not to be missed with the Lingotto, a Banca di Roma gold bar dessert, which pays tribute to the building’s banking history.
Banca di Roma’s menu is inspired by the brothers’ memories of mealtimes at home, think tables overflowing with huge bowlfuls of pasta, platefuls of salads and baskets full of Italian breads all prepared to share and enjoy with friends and family with loud laughter and cheery conversations.
With a front of house team led by general manager Rocco Morabito previously of Novikov and his deputy Filomena Visaggi, originally from Hakkasan, diners can look forward to an all-round exceptional dining experience.
To celebrate the opening of Glasgow’s hottest new restaurant, Banca di Roma is offering VIP soft launch booking opportunities throughout March. Customers can take advantage of it by signing up to the newsletter here www.bancadiroma.co.uk
