TRNSMT has called upon some of Scotland’s biggest DJs to find the next generation of talent, giving budding producers the opportunity to have their mixes judged by LF System, Arielle Free, Meg McHugh and Hayley Zalassi, and win the opportunity to play a set on the festival’s famed Boogie Bar.
The Boogie Bar slots are highly sought after with the festival annually inundated with requests to play in the arena which brings its own energy, guaranteed to keep the crowd jumping all weekend.
For the first time ever, TRNSMT has announced its hunt for local talent, calling on musicians to submit their best mixes for a chance to join some of the country’s best grassroots DJs and producers on the line-up.
A phenomenal opportunity for up-and-coming artists, all submissions will be listened to and judged by a host of massive Scottish DJs, including dance duo LF System, who topped the charts last summer with huge anthem Afraid to Feel, BBC Radio 1 presenter and world-renowned DJ Arielle Free who regularly dons the decks in Ibiza, Capital Dance host Meg McHugh and Glasgow-based Hayley Zalassi, known for sets at the iconic Sub Club.
To enter and be in with a chance to play a set on Saturday’s lineup, applicants should submit their mixes online by Monday 1st May at 6pm. As well as playing the Boogie Bar on Saturday 8th July the winner of the highly coveted prize will also win three weekend tickets for themself and two mates, guaranteed to give them the best weekend of the summer.
Craig Johnston, Promoter at DF Concerts who programmes the Boogie Bar, said: “TRNSMT 2023 is set to be a massive weekend, filled with great music from huge chart toppers to up-and-coming acts. After two hugely successful years, we’re really excited to bring the Boogie Bar back this summer and showcase some of Scotland’s best DJ talent.
“For the very first time, we’re opening the stage and offering a budding DJ the chance to play a set to thousands of music lovers at Scotland’s biggest festival, joining some of the biggest names in music. A true once-in-a-lifetime gig, it’s guaranteed to make it a summer to remember.
“We’re really pleased to have LF System, Arielle Free, Hayley Zalassi, and Meg McHugh on board with the judging process - some of Scotland’s biggest names in electronic music who know exactly what it takes to get a crowd excited.”
Arielle Free, BBC Radio 1 presenter, said: “Buzzing to be a part of the TRNSMT panel to help judge the incredible talent and music coming out of Scotland at the moment. I live for any way to discover my favourite new act and getting to listen to their mixes and help shine a light is always something I'm proud to be a part of. Can't wait to hear what's submitted.”
LF System (pictured) said: “Delighted to be contributing our thoughts for the TRNSMT Boogie Bar competition. We're looking forward to hearing what the next generation of Scottish artists have in their locker.”
All submissions should be entered here, and the winner will be announced on 18th May.
Tickets for TRNSMT are now available to purchase via TRNSMT’s website, starting at £79. Tickets can be purchased on payment plans, where the cost of your ticket will be split into three smaller payments.
