Popular music festival, TRNSMT, is set to return to Glasgow Green this weekend, with thousands of festival goers set to arrive in the city for a weekend of good music and good times in the Scottish sunshine.
Buchanan Galleries, which is located just over a mile from Glasgow Green, has unveiled its top festival-fashion trends for 2023 which is displayed within the shopping centre for all to see.
Buchanan Galleries has worked in partnership with Glaswegian style influencer, Wendy H Gilmour - known as ThankFifi on Instagram - as well as key retailers within the centre, including John Lewis & Partners to style 11 mannequins and showcase their must-haves when it comes to this year’s festival fashion. The mannequins are displayed against the iconic flower wall in the centre, offering passers-by some all-important style inspiration for the summer festival season.
The capsule wardrobe offers both women’s and men’s head-to-toe outfit ideas, from boho seventies style to brightly coloured party-wear. On her top trends and styles, Glasgow’s trendiest influencer, Wendy H Gilmour, said “Crochet and seventies style are two of my favourite 2023 trends which translate well to festival wear - think like Daisy Jones in flared jeans or high-rise shorts, billowing sleeves, and knitted details.
The collection includes ideas for shoes and accessories, all of which are available from retailers at Buchanan Galleries, such as NEXT, River Island and Mango. Gilmour added, “When it comes to festival fashion there are a few non-negotiables for me - a hat, sunglasses, and western boots but in Scotland you can never rule out a good pair of wellies!”
In a bid to encourage shoppers to be more sustainable in their style choices, John Lewis & Partners has launched their FashionCycle initiative, which allows for shoppers to bring in 5 items of pre-loved clothing, from any retailer or store, and turn that into £5 off their next homewares or fashion purchase.
To this, Wendy H Gilmour added, “I think the most important thing to keep in mind when festival shopping is to invest in pieces that will last - avoid one wear fast fashion and choose styles you love and will wear again and again.”
In celebration of the summer festival season, Buchanan Galleries is giving one lucky winner the chance to win their ultimate summer wardrobe worth £200, with vouchers from Quiz, Next, River Island and John Lewis & Partners, plus a personal styling appointment with prosecco along with coffee and cake for two at the Place to Eat restaurant.
To enter, simply share a summer fashion selfie on social media, using the hashtag #BGFashion. Full T&Cs can be found on Buchanan Galleries’ website: buchanangalleries.co.uk
