Nominated by the public, these awards aim to highlight excellence in Scotland’s vibrant hospitality scene, recognising businesses and individuals.
Since its inception in 1990, King Tut’s has been at the forefront of Scotland’s live music scene and continues to be one of the most celebrated and well-known venues in the UK. Known as a stage to showcase new and emerging musical talent, King Tut’s has been integral to the careers of global names such as The Killers, Florence and the Machine, The 1975, Oasis and Paolo Nutini.
Despite King Tut’s intimate capacity of 300, it remains at the heart of Glasgow’s music scene. This award adds to a long list of accolades for King Tut’s, which earlier this year clinched a spot in the top 10 grossing club venues in Europe in Pollstar’s 2024 Magna Charta, amongst venues ten times its size.
It's clear that Scotland’s love affair with music shows no signs of slowing down and will continue to welcome music fans from across the world, with King Tut’s providing a stage for 249 shows and welcoming 54,359 of music lovers through its doors in 2023.
The venue has also been shortlisted for the City of Glasgow Awards.
Davie Millar, General Manager of King Tut’s, said: “We genuinely feel privileged to have artists and fans travel from near and far, continuing to create the atmosphere that King Tut’s has become world famous for.
With their amazing support, it’s no surprise that over 30 years later, we’re still holding our place in Scotland’s entertainment scene. It’s an honour to be voted Best Live Entertainment Venue at the Scottish Hospitality Awards - there’s a dedicated team behind the venue who work tirelessly to give all our visitors the best experience we possibly can.”
Geoff Ellis, CEO at DF Concerts and Events, said: “Glasgow has one of the best entertainment offerings in the UK and with so many amazing live music venues, we’re thrilled that King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut continues to be recognised as a firm favourite.
“It’s down to these fans who have supported the venue, and the artists who have played or aspire to play in it, that we can continue to grow the rich music scene in Scotland. Our passion and enthusiasm for live music has given us a global stage right here in Glasgow.
“We always strive to deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone who visits King Tut’s and winning this award through public vote highlights the brilliant work of the team in running the venue as well as how much support it has from our fans.”
